Masque Sound C-16 Cable Tester

Masque Sound has a rich history of inventive and innovative ideas to fill a niche. The Masque Sound CT-16 Cable Tester is our most recent in house development. Our team of audio experts had previously developed an handheld cable checker. The original device tested 3-conductor cable assemblies providing an accurate diagnosing of the cable if it was wired incorrectly. The tester proved useful in multiple applications.
In recent years the components have become obsolete. The tool only tested 3-conductor assemblies, limiting its scope. With the pervasive use of network cable and multi-conductor speaker cable it became clear that the industry demanded a fast continuity test for multi-conductor cable assemblies.

As technology evolved in the audio industry, Masque’s own quality assurance team found that the originally developed cable tester no longer met their needs. Quality assurance and cable testing once again became cumbersome. If Masque Sound’s internal processes were being impacted, it was natural to assume that the audio industry as a whole needed a solution.
Necessity is the mother of invention – Masque’s team of audio industry experts decided to improve their original design. The result: the Masque Sound CT-16 Cable Tester.

The Masque Sound CT-16 Cable Tester is a nine-conductor that instantly displays the cable status when a cable is plugged in; no knob turning required. It tests for any conductor shorted to chassis, including the Pin 1 Problem. The CT-16 tests shields on Cat5 and Ethercon assemblies and provides a steady “intermittent” indicator that will turn on and stay lit when a pair is intermittent. Almost all cable connectors used in a professional audio system are included:
- L21-30
- Powercon
- MIDI
- NL8
- NL4
- 4, 5 and 6 Pin XLR
- Ethercon
- 1/8” TRS
- ¼” TS
- ¼” TRS
- EN3-5
- BNC
- RCA
